Stain Removal Kit
If you don’t have one already, you might consider putting together a home carpet stain removal kit. Some items to include in your kit would be:
The paper towel is good to use as a first step to soak up a liquid stain. This works especially well if your carpet have a stain guard on it. The stain guards today work miraculously. One thing to remember though is that once the carpeting is steam cleaned, or a liquid gets on it, the stain guard is removed. You will want to have a stain guard reapplied after a liquid stain occurs or you use a steam carpet clean solution.
The butter knife comes in handy when removing solid stains from the carpeting. Ammonia is a good stain remover solution. Make sure though to not use a colored towel as some of the coloring from the towel might transfer to your carpet. Also, try using ammonia in an area of the carpet that is not visible to the eye to make sure it does not damage your carpeting. Follow the same advice when using hydrogen peroxide.

- 3 % Hydrogen Peroxide
- Ammonia
- Rubbing Alcohol

- Acetone

- Toothbrush – for hard to reach spaces
