Six signs your carpets need to be cleaned

One of the most common questions we get is how often should we be cleaning our carpets in Green Bay Wisconsin?  It is a tough question because we see four different seasons of weather that present different challenges with cleaning our carpets.  Generally speaking we recommend that you get your Green Bay carpets cleaned at least once a year.  Some families call on us twice a year, and in extreme cases we clean some properties before each calendar season.  If you are taking care of your carpets throughout the year and have normal traffic, once or twice should be sufficient.
Here are six signs that you carpets are due for a cleaning.

1.  Traffic Lanes.  If you wear shows in your house or have pets that use similar traffic patterns, you will want to keep a close eye on your carpets.  Once a traffic pattern starts to settle in it could cause permanent damage.  The dirt and oils get deep into the carpeting, causing it very hard to remove traffic patterns. 
2. Sand Paper – If you do not vacuum your carpeting weekly, you may have dirt and sand deep in your carpets causing damage.  Take a very close look at your carpeting, does it look like the fibers of your carpeting are starting to separate and feel like sandpaper?  Vacuum your carpeting really good and give us a call to it right.
3. Smelly carpets.  Some carpets start to have a persistent odor to them.  Remember that carpeting acts like a filter.  Once it gets full, you are breathing in things like dust mites, pollen, dander, spores, fungus, bacteria, and carcinogens!

6. The most common problem we run into in stains.  If you delay in cleaning out stains, it can become impossible to remove.  We do have several techniques to remove stains, but again time is of the essence so do not delay.  If you have pet stains, please let us know.  Cat urine stains in particular can be nearly impossible to remove and we like to be upfront with you on that.  Some carpet cleaners misrepresent removal of cat urine stains.  WE are upfront and honest.  If you have a cat, for example, that has left urine all over your carpet and it has soaked into the pad, there is a good chance you will need to remove the carpeting to get that out.
